Imagine, for a moment, a prism—its transparent form catching the light, pure and unbroken, from the sun. The light enters this clear, multifaceted crystal and emerges transformed. A single beam splits into a cascade of colors, each hue dancing in its own vibrancy, yet together they form a spectrum of breathtaking beauty. The prism doesn’t change the essence of the light; it simply reveals the diverse, hidden colors within it.
This prism is like our world, a vessel through which the divine light is filtered. Just as the light enters the prism and emerges as a rainbow, so too does God’s presence and beauty enter our world, refracted through the myriad experiences, cultures, and beliefs of humanity. Each person, each tradition, each moment of grace is a unique reflection of the same sacred light, no less divine, no less significant than the others.
Yet, just as the colors in a rainbow are distinct but inseparable, so too are we. Every faith, every path walked in sincerity and love, is a color in the spectrum of God’s infinite expression. Whether you find the sacred in a quiet chapel, under a canopy of trees, in the pages of sacred texts, or in the shared silence of meditation, know that these are all facets of the same divine light. We are all prisms, reflecting God’s presence in our own ways.
But what happens when the prism is clouded? When fear, hatred, or ignorance distort the light? The colors become dimmed, the beauty lost to shadow. We begin to see each other not as different reflections of the same light, but as separate, isolated, and in opposition. We forget that we are part of the same spectrum, each of us necessary to complete the whole. As beautiful as the spectrum is, we often find ourselves clinging to just one color, one facet of that divine light. Many religions, in their earnest desire to understand and connect with the divine, grasp tightly to their particular shade of truth. They attempt to keep it inside a box, claiming it as the exclusive truth, the only valid expression of God’s light. This tendency to limit the divine to a single color, to a single path, creates division and exclusion. It is as if we forget that the same light flows through every tradition, that each religion, each spiritual path, holds a unique but incomplete piece of the vast, multifaceted truth of God.
By focusing on our individual colors, we lose sight of the entire spectrum, failing to see the beauty and unity that comes from embracing the full range of divine expression. We miss the chance to celebrate the many colors of the Divine, the rich diversity that makes the world not just colorful, but profoundly sacred in its diversity. In these times, we must remember the prism and the light it reveals. We must strive to clear away the clouds that obscure our vision—clouds of prejudice, anger, and division. Let us allow the divine light to shine through us clearly and fully, reflecting all the colors of God’s love into the world.
So let us beloved souls, embrace the light within ourselves and others. Let our lives be a prism that reveals the beauty and diversity of God’s love. Live in harmony with those whose colors differ from yours, knowing that it is this very diversity that makes the rainbow complete. Seek peace, not just for yourself but for all beings, and let your heart be a beacon of love that brightens the world around you.
In this light, we find our true selves, and in each other, we find the full spectrum of God’s love. Together, let us create a world where every color is celebrated, every light is honored, and where peace and love reign supreme.
May it be so. Amen.
